A couple weeks ago, my friend Leonard Garcia @leonardmusica, sent to me an external drive, it had the data for the new project he was producing together with the flamenco dancer Patty Cinquemani @pattycinquemani. This time it was a flamenco version of the Alejando Sanz’s song Cuando Nadie Me Ve, which includes flamenco dance choreography bringing the percussive sound of the Zapateado Flamenco like a lead element of the arrangement.
From my point of view, the biggest challenge of mixing is achieve that all the feeling and energy shaped by the musician performance, can be transferred to the listener and this was a milestone for this project which blended the music and dance. I had to get the balance of all the elements to expose what they call El DUENDE, this kind of magic that naturally emerge during the dance of the bailaora.

Quarantine Notes: The lead vocal was recorded through an Iphone, to follow the social distancing, the singer couldn’t went into a studio to tracked it properly

Hace un par de semanas mi amigo Leonard Garcia @leonardmusica me envió un disco externo con la data de un nuevo proyecto que estaba produciendo junto a la bailaora Patty Cinquemani @pattycinquemani. En esta oportunidad el proyecto era una version flamenca del tema Cuando Nadie Me Ve de Alejandro Sanz que incluye coreografía flamenca aportando el elemento percutivo del zapateado flamenco como protagonista del arreglo.
Desde mi punto de vista el reto principal de mezclar un tema es lograr que la energía y sentimiento plasmado por los músicos en su ejecución sea transmitida a la persona que escuche la musica y en este proyecto ese punto era fundamental por tratarse de una pieza audiovisual donde había que resaltar eso que llaman EL DUENDE, esa magia y carácter de la bailaora dejando fluir el arte.
